Well played, Jamie and Sully.  Where do the other 62 contestants come from, are they automatic qualifiers, or where there other qualification sites? :-[  Good luck in August!

Cheers,
Brad

Thanks guys.  There were two other qualifying rounds over the past two weeks.  One at Radnor Valley CC and one at Golden Oaks.  I've never played either course, so the choice of sites was easy for me.  Before joining Tavistock, I was a member at Little Mill for a few years.

Besides the qualifiers, the rest of the field is made up of players who are exempt from last year's finish or winners of various events.

It is always a treat to be able to compete at Merion, I'm sure the Philly Open will be a fun day.

Jamie,

Congrats on a great round!  I hope the wedges helped you get there.   :)
Play well at Merion and have a great time!

Congratulations, Jamie and Jim.  Great to see you both qualified.  I look forward to following your exploits.  Hey, nice showing by the Tavistock crew at Little Mill.

Perhaps a practice round is in order before the 103rd Open Championship.  It would be fun to get together with you before then.  If not, there will be a few of your supporters in the crowd from GCA.  Best of luck.

Very cool, way to go guys. I am already looking forward to your thoughts on the event!

Man. I hope you fellows can play well infront of that hypercritical and demanding GCA Philly contingent.  No doubt you'll have quite and entourage of GCA groupies walking along with you.  I wish I were one of them...  ;) ;D 8)

Great job guys.  But isn't it a bit presumptuous for the association to call it the Open Championship?  I thought there was only one of those.

Great job guys!  I'm starting to realize that my spot in the world rankings is sinking lower and lower.  It's great that the GAP has its big events at such quality courses, makes for a memorable experience for those involved.  Simply qualifying and being able to play at Merion would probably be the highlight of my golfing career.

Obviously understandable, but it does have some history as it is 104 years old.

Congrats guys.  I wish I could attend on Aug 4th to watch but cannot.

Will any of you guys be playing in the Crump Cup this year?

Dan,

It usually is, so I assume this year will be no different.

Any thoughts on what the winning score might be?

Obviously, that course is tournament ready every day so I assume that they won't have to do any special preparations.

I'd take 145 and sit on that patio eating soup all day regardless of the conditions...but...if it's real firm 150 could realistically compete.

Tough to really pick a number because in the best of cases (from a scoring perspaective) there are 6 or 7 holes you can feasibly birdie with good play and then 11 or 12 you are hoping to par...with varying degrees of probability. In the worst you are hoping to par those 6 or 7 holes and then holding on for dear life on the rest.

A par on any hole is a hole well played.
