that is very helpful

so, is Boston so large that any in this group is more than 30 minutes from TCC?

Brae Burn CC
Charles River Club

Nope, they are all within 30 minutes of downtown - depending on traffic of course!  Most are within 15-20 minutes.  If I had my pick I would choose Brae Burn, Winchester, and CR in no particular order as they are all awesome.

One other course you did not list would be Dedham Country & Polo (Seth Raynor), about 20 minutes outside the city.  Another would be Woodland Golf Club (Ross).

Under 'normal' Boston driving conditions, how long of a drive would you estimate to Essex and Taconic - each - from TCC?

Also, how far from Logan are they as well?

thanks!

Essex is about an hour from TCC, unless you're driving in evening rush hour traffic.  About 10 minutes less from the airport.

Taconic is a solid two hours from both, I would say.  Maybe 2.5 hours.

so, Scott and Martin,

in other words, a pretty good day would be TCC, Essex and then Logan home.....

Let me re-ask that last question -

Knowing that you had the Boston traffic to contend with, if you had to pick one to play after TCC, and before you head to the airport, would it be Charles River or Brae Burn??

I am a big fan of Dedham. Not very long, but a great environment for golf. I prefer it to Woodland.

You should move the Ranch and Crumpin Fox out of the suburban list and into the western Mass list.

I would say CR over Brae Burn, but they are both great experiences.  BB has a bit more historical "special" feel than CR, but CR is the likely better golf course.  I'm also a huge fan of Essex CC, which I think is slightly more fun than Myopia when deciding b/t the two.

I lived in Brookline from 5/05 to 6/06, so I've driven to many of these courses from there.

I'd say Logan is 20-30 mins from TCC, probably 50 mins-hr from Essex.  Taconic is easily 2.5+ from Logan, probably closer to 3 hrs.

Out of your "Boston courses<30 mins from TCC" list, I would say Granite Links and Blue Hill are just outside 30 mins, but the others are inside.

Of course if you are trying to get anywhere from 7-9 AM or especially 3:30-7 on a weekday, good luck.  I bet Logan to Taconic starting at 4pm from Boston (on a weekday) would get you out there at about 8-8:30 pm, and to Brookline at 5-5:15.

That is a great list of almost everything worth playing in MA.  I would only challenge Chicopee (definately not if its the Municipal course) and Maplegate (debatable) as not being worthy of the others on the list.  I think by my count I've played 33 of 53 on your list.
So I jump ship in Hong Kong....
