Diary of a golf trip
« on: May 10, 2007, 07:20:06 AM »
I'm off to an unknown destination.  Just got on the plane an lucky enough to be alone in my seat.  It looks like a perfect start with the small exception thatb the guy behind me stinks to high heaven.

I believe JB meant a course he has not played when he said "unknown destination". Unknownyneal is awesome, have fun.

On the taxiway...Are gates and or first tees ever not full?  The loud talkers are out...I'm still going good as I believe they are headed to different parts then me.  It looks like my green to tee walk is a long one.

I'm glad you're doing this John, and I look forward to regular and detailed entries throughout the day, especially your  impressions of Unknownyneal. I have to say, though, that you never struck me as someone who'd keep a diary ("Dear Diary: the road I faced today was long and stretched off to the horizon, but luckily it was my crew that had to pave it all; I was out on a golf course").

I hope the loud talkers don't do a u-turn and join you at Unknownyneal. I'd imagine one of the charms of the place is that the "loud talkers" haven't found it yet.

I noticed on my walk to the gate that in a way quite opposite of when golfing...Those without wheels under their bags look like hacks.  Bloody Mary has been served.

Please note that I am posting from my phone and it does not have the memory to retrieve IM's.  For those who think golf course dress codes are silly..try flying.  I do enjoy just a bit of optical evenhandedness.  Boarding, appears to be on time..locaton disclosed later.

I've never really understood why I spend so much time and as some would say love golf.  I quickly learning on this plane as a new group of loud talkers are on board.  We all and those in particular who believe golf is about getting what you want need to look around how non golfing society behaves.  Emotions in check as I look forward to the solitude of the first.  Don't see a range session in the cards.

As you are flying out I-80, have them dip the wings over Gothenburg...

Tell them you are a Marlboro man but would rather have a Winston when choosing a caddie.  8)

John,

Being a good Hillbilly, I hope you have a peppy rental car and enjoy the loose gravel roads leading to the golf course.  Remember:  punch it, and steer in the direction of the skid.

I am very impressed with the golf bag luggage picker upper.  This device looks like it would be an excellent way to choose a date in the future.  Phase 1a now complete as our land mission begins.

The loudest talkers I have ever heard on a plane are on my business trips to Vegas and Myrtle Beach. I think I am the only one on the plane who is sober and not going to have fun, except of course, to me, field work on golf courses is kinda fun.......

Interesting.

Is that because it gives a read out of the weight.

And how does Mrs. Barney feel about your future dating plans?

Only Barney would think a play by play on the runway makes for good diary. I am so glad it is spring and golf season again. We need to get Barney out of doors again

What? No report on the quality of the paving on I-76?  Over/under on Barney's speed is 85 mph.  East bound and down, loaded up and trucking.

Only a Hillbilly would mistake the ski carousel for a golf bag picker upper.  This is gonna be good.

Hmm,

If we assume takeoff and landing correspond relatively closely with the times reported, give ole JK a five-hour flight compass. Thats a lot of possible destinations. I assume a start near home.

Hmmm.

Doug,

it could reflect a flight to say, Minneapolis, then a puddle jumper to say, somewhere in The Plains....

True Joe, but perhaps John would have mentioned those changes. Still, a fun thread, and I am enjoying considering the possibilities.

For example, could JK be watching the Players tommorrow? Or enjoying the refreshing Banff mountains? Or even New England's rocky coasts?

Is he meeting 'someone special' [toward whom he yells less often]?

Keep em coming JK. Story telling means keeping your surprises while teasing. I am a sucker for a story.

I can report a safe and secure arrival. His ball striking seems unphased.

One of his first comments was "how could Mike Hendren make the comment he made?" He was quickly rewarded with a two-putt birdie on the vista filled fourth.

Peter, When there's enough money at stake, they do.

The other comment JakaB made was that he thought the course better than he'd expected.
