Just talked to a guy who I believe said he use to work at Inwood and despite being a casual visitor to this site knew it was on The Next Fifty.  I had never heard of the course and was curious about what is up with the place.  Please...

There was a piece on this in Links magazine a few years ago. If memory serves Tom Doak had just performed a restoration of the place.

I don't want to rehash everything that was said on the other threads but I think Tom Doak summed up Inwood wonderfully - "The ironic thing is that a great championship course in 1923 is a really good members' course today."

For those who are interested, over the winter the tree removal program continued and I love the results.  There were trees removed between the 3rd and 4th fairways, on the 9th hole and, most significantly, around the 10th green.

David,

To me, Inwood straddles the line between a very sporty course and an ideal member's course.  It's a little of both.

It provides a reasonable challenge for better golfers and an enjoyable challenge for those with higher handicaps.

It's the kind of golf course you can play every day without tiring of the experience.

And, when the wind blows it gets exponentially more exciting.

P.S.  I thought I heard the sound of chainsaws as I was
       driving on the Belt Parkway this winter. ;D

Tom Doak,

I think Inwood is a hidden gem, which is surprising, given it's history.

I thoroughly enjoyed every round I've played their, irrespective of my score.

It's a golf course that should get more recognition.
You should be pleased with your work there.
