About that USGA deal with Amex
« on: April 24, 2007, 01:19:51 AM »
This a quote from a Pittsburgh Tribune-Review story on Tiger's practice rounds at Oakmont:

"Woods finished off his weekend in Pittsburgh by playing a briskly paced practice round with a gallery of some 50 American Express cardholders who had paid $900 to play Oakmont on Monday morning."

It seems to have been a very, very planned-out sort of thing.

It was more than likelt very planned, however, it is still nice to see that Tiger's interaction with the paying customers was so enthusiastic...after all he could have just hit his shots and kept his mouth shut...as many recent hall of fame inductees have done in the past.

Sounds like a nice day to me....play Oakmont early, then watch someone much, much better play it immediately after; at the open the depth surrounding Tiger will be 50 people. I attempted to watch him at Olympic in 1998 and got trampled.

If AMEX keeps the number of entrants to 50 people, the price for that ticket will go through the roof...absolutely skyrocket...

Yeah, you'd think they could have charged $3,000 for it.
