I played Yale on Saturday and it was very wet considering the rainfall last week.. Considering there was oh about 8 inches of rain in fairfield county yesterday, I can't see courses opening for at least a week in the area.  There is a river 100 yards from my house that my wife tells me is only 10 yards from my house now, its banks are at the 100 year flood line!

Now I know a lot of courses are built on sand but when you consider how awful the weather has been in the northeast, I'd imagine this will set course back to at least mid May for being in good shape..

I'm not a super but maybe some guys can comment, this can't be good from anywhere from DC up to Maine..

Consider F & F on hold for now.

We were pretty dry coming into this deluge (6" of rain and about 2" of snow) so I hope things aren't too bad.  With far less rain than we've had, a few of our greens and fairways tend to flood.  But they are typically back in play pretty readily.  Bill V is right, it'll be a while before it is firm and fast once again, but I think we'll be OK around here.

We currently have 45mph wind gusts and I'm going out to the courses a bit later to check things out.  My kids don't have school today, so I'll probably take them along.

I'm on the north shore of Boston, and there's lots of flooding going on. The ground was still soaking from the late-season snow storms we had, so there isn't anywhere for the recent deluge to go. With the 50 mph wind, branches are down all over the place. I can't believe we haven't lost power yet. On the positive side, Sugarbush has received 3 feet of snow since Saturday and will probably get at least another foot. Might need to drag my skis out of the basement and head north for some fun.

I suspect that the winds and downed trees will be more of an issue for most courses than the rain.

Reporting for the Berkshires... we didn't get as much rain or wind as some but with the cold temps we've been experiencing no one has opened yet.  This weather certainly isn't going to help either.  I believe this will be the latest opening for the courses up here in a long time considering it'll be the last week in April if all goes well.

Come on, Wayne - go play - a little snow hitting your face at 40 MPH never hurt anybody :)

Dan,

I'm worried about some big branch cracking off a tree and conking me in the head.  This early in the season, I'm in the trees and not the fairways  ;)

I hope things are fine at your course and that your home doesn't float away.  We have a little water in our basement but the sump pumps and dehumidifier are taking care of things.

See you soon, I hope.

Reporting from southeastern coast of CT...2 1/2" of rain...very windy...hopefully no more rain and things should dry out somewhat by the end of the week. Closed today hopefully open for walking tomorrow...other courses with flooding issues in different areas might need a lot more time...Hopefully across the race at Fishers things aren't too bad...Donnie tends to have some holes there that flood pretty bad.
It is what it is.
