O.T. -- showbiz quiz
« on: March 21, 2007, 01:56:57 AM »
I understand that if you asked Lee Trevino about the best golfers in Hollywood, one of the first people he would name was this late comedian/comic actor.

Can you guess?  For now I'll say he was much better-known in movies than television who made one very prominent appearance in a Mel Brooks movie, probably when he was in his early thirties. Not at all unathletic-looking.

Hmmm, don't remember Peter Boyle being a golfer, and is Alex Karras still alive?

This is such a dumb question that even I shouldn't be engaging it. But ... excuse me while I whip out my ... Cleavon Little?

I believe Alex Karras passed away a few years, but it's not him.

It is kind of a dumb question, but the picture of Fred MacMurray (who I believe was scratch or close), Hope, Stewart, and Nixon made me think of it, plus once I heard it, it stuck in my head.

Another hint: Springtime might make you think of him.

Wayne - good call!

Ray - what are you doing to me?! I spent a half hour trying to figure out what Mel Brook's picture had Dean Martin or Robert Wagner in it!

Sorry, Peter, I wish Dick Shawn had more credits.  But if I'd said "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" I probably would have gotten tossed, I would imagine mentioning Stanley Kramer-directed star-studded action comedy extravaganzas is grounds for banishment, at least I kind of hope it is.
