I have to stay overnight in Gateshead Wednesday 25th April 2007.  Might any of our GCA friends in the north-east fancy a round somewhere in those parts the following morning?

Hi Mark,

Where's Gateshead?

Steve, it's right across the river from Newcastle.  Just down the river from Tyneside (Colt), or 5 mi. S of The Northumberland (Colt/Braid).  Sand Moor and Brancepeth just a bit farther on.

Jason

ps.  Oh, and not far at all from Chester-le-Street, though probably no cricket that time of year.   :-\

Mark,

I'm sure I can take the morning off and you're welcome to come and play at the Northumberland.

Regards,

Mark
In July I will be riding two stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity, including Mont Ventoux for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

Mark, That sounds very good news - and Andy's chipped in with an IM.  Do you still have a completely different winter course from the summer course?  Maybe not unique, but very unusual and a good idea.  Mark.

Mark,

We're a bit like Seaton Carew in that we have 22 holes, four of which (the winter holes), play as 4-7 in the winter.  Summer holes 12-15 get taken out of play in the winter.  The Summer course will come back into play at the end of March.  I think that these are amongst the best holes on the course but they are at the far end of the course and very far from shelter on a wet, cold, winter's day.

Mark,

Sorry not to have been in touch sooner.  Is Northumberland still a possibility for Thursday?  I'm not at home much between now and Thursday so have my mobile number:  07986-940873.  The only problem with it is that I get absolutely no signal at home, so have my home number as well: 01625-527628.  Mark

Steve, it must have been an optical illusion because I thought it meant New England as well... ;)

Mark,

Definitely, though I have to warn you that our greens are in fairly poor condition at the moment (not enough rain, though the last couple of days will have helped).  Is Andy stillpalanning to join us?

Speaking on North East Golf.
Does anyone have any information on the golf development at Close House??
I hear more land has been bought to develop the golf course, does anyone have any info on which architect is involved?
