Has anyone played this one?  (Martin ... Rich ... Sean ... ?)  Andy's post on Purbeck reminded me of Isle of Seil, which reminded me of this James Braid design:

Looks like quite a work-out!

would you believe 'yes', as an 11 year old, in January 1971.  The front nine anyway.  I recall it being a shot course (although the ball wasn't going very far in Scottish January conditions) and the front nine played up and around a hill to the north I think.  The back nine played more out to the east, but I only saw the 10th hole.

It looked like an undulating piece of ground, but I was only 11.  Some blind holes, and some crossing holes I think, no bunkers as well..

I look forward to seeing what others post.  It will remind me of that trip with my parents 36 years ago - which incorporated a white xmas in London! :)

edit - I visited the web-site.  I recalled the #1 being a short par 5 - it is now called a long par 4 (445 yards up hill).  The web-site reminded me of the big rock on #5 and #6.  However, I do not recall the number of bushes in the photos.  Still, they might not have existed 36 years ago, or perhaps they are less obvious in the middle of winter.

Oh, and the 'burns'.  I remember them.  I had never seen such things before when I was 11.

Going to check Google Earth for some routing - no, definition is poor.  Perhaps someone has a routing.  I think there were some par 3's that crossed mid-hole.

Bob; its impossible to explain some of the clutter that gets recalled from the attic between my ears. .  (SL Solow)

I tried to find it on Google Earth, too; but it's a blur.   Thanks for the account, James.  Glad to walk you down memory lane.
