It's been awhile since I paid much attention to the layout at Oakmont.  No wonder the USGA loves this place!  It looks like every par-4 and par-5 fairway has bilateral sand girdles.  Just the type of killer, option-removing, ultra-demanding test that they love.  And then you get to putt those greens.  Looks like 5 over...

One other thing about #5 is that it is the only par 4 or 5 at Oakmont that doesn't have any run-up possibilities.  It has the only ditch that must be carried right in front of the green.

I sat on that green for hours at the 94 Open and it was fantastic.  A variety of clubs were hit into the demanding green.  One of my favorite holes.

There's no doubt but that it's a one-of-a-kind greensite.
