Steve Curry Update
« on: January 03, 2007, 04:09:00 PM »
Hot off the press:

January 03, 2007 at 03:48 PM EST

Well Folks wanted to say hope you all enjoyed the holidays half as much as Steve did, because in his words "it was the best day of his life" but today was a pretty close second. This morning the final path. report came back and all those prayers and positive thoughts worked. Steve has "Anaplastic oligodendroglioma" a much more treatable version than was originally thought. Way to go Steve ! This means that Steve will still need a combo of chemo and radiation but he will be able to have most of his daily treatments in the comfort of his home as opposed to daily trips to the hospital. He will know more info. after a very long day of appointments tom. We will get you more details as we have them but are very excited to pass along this news. As of now Steve is still feeling great and in excellent humor. However his sleep schedule is completely off, a few hours sleepping a few awake. Responding to your messages has kept him amused in his 'insomniac' moments, please keep them coming.

As our own Dave Silk said on another thread, "Do you believe in mircacles?"

Miracle or not, Steve, all the best to you and yours!  I'll raise a glass and toast your complete recovery.

Mayday,

It's usually the chemo and the anti-nausea drugs they give you.

Your sleeping patterns get turned upside down and inside out.

That's where the internet and late night TV can help

Tony,

Thanks, you beat me to it.  I can't believe how everything has fallen into place at each turn.  My Dad just went through the Killer Chemo for Lymphoma  on the day I was admitted he had gotten home and was in enough shape to fly back to help with me.  BMC, my hospital only 1 year ago decided to seriously recruit a top Neuro surgeon and is now considered a go to place for that reason, Dr.Kantrowitz is considered to be one of the best!  I concur.

Now my tumor is found to be a rare one that is more treatable, survivable than the first analysis found.  Christmas again today, and a renewed sense of ability to overcome.

The only downside to this whole event is the difficult experience I have been having with expedia in getting a previously arranged trip put on hold.  They have been less than helpful.  My sister called as I was off to the OR and they told her that I was the only one who could change the arrangements, wow!  Anyone have any pull with them?

Thank you so much to all the well wishes and prayers here.  They mean the world to me!

Cheers,

Steve

Steve, I knew the treatment would turn your hair black but I didn't realize it would also produce a blue collar around your neck.

Steve did anyone ever tell you that you look like Ruland Gardner, the former Olympic Wrestler that finally dispatched the Russian Bear?  I'll bet you could take him!   ;) ;D 8)

Steve,

You obviously have some very good friends. Silk and Childs are not in that group. Keep and eye on them. On top of it they think they are funny.

See you at Hob Nob Hill.

Thanks for the update, glad to hear the good news.

I don't have any pull with expedia, but I can say they will no longer be getting my business!

I want no more complaining about new technology around here anymore!  I have four titanium plates in my head and am expecting some distance this year!

Watch out for the new oversized golfer.
