Dan, unless you are Brad Swanson, and then it plays a role in "from" where you hit your second shot to the green.  Like 6 or 7 iron just skirt the right side and draw it in...  ;) ;D

Dick,

I'm no Brad Swanson, but I can usually get past the tree with my second shot.  Its only about 300-310 from the back tee.

I've never seen anyway try for this green in two, have you?

No photo but tree down center line of play works well on 10th hole at May River Golf Club.

The 2nd picture is Circling Raven in Worley Idaho.  I think it fits there because it more a risk reward thing then right in the middle of your path.  Go left and tough to get home in 2, go right and you're in great position to do so.  Its a great little course if you get up to the PacNorWest.

Not sure where that 1st hole is though..

Cypress Point and Pebble Beach treat cypress trees like national monuments, so it wouldn't surprise me to see a tree growing in the middle of a green out there.  Last time I played Pebble, I was in a fairway bunker on the left side, about 100 yards or so from the green and there was a gnarly piece of shit tree about ten yards directly in line to the green.  And it was being propped up by an iron bar.  Lunacy.  Abject tree-hugging out of their minds lunacy.

Perhaps they took a page out of the book from thier neighbors down the road with the tree on 16th/17th fairway.

I would think if a tree is going to fall over, can't they just replace it like they did with the greenside tree on 18 at Pebble?
