This is a sociological experiment of sorts:

Looking for something else, I just ran across the Links Trust web site featuring news about the no. 7 course.

I see they ran a contest to name the course. The result will be announced this month. So, quickly... read this page:

Great aerial shot on that website!

Muckross or Muckross Brae jumps out at me.  Not too fond of Boar's Chase though.  What about "No. 7"?

Simple, after reading the story from the Links. Kinkel Ness. Most people will have no idea where it came from but based on the location, that is the most appropriate name.

I entered the contest.

My idea was to call it "The Trust"

Since the announcement is apparently upcoming, I expect they will probably call me this week regarding my award :P ;)

I confidently predict that my entry of 'Tyrecliffs' will awaken the old buffers of the Links Trust from their Rip van Winklian slumbers so effectively that I shall be immediately elected President for Life.

I would name it the "Two Toms" course in honor of the two greatest players from Fifie.

Based on history, re naming the other courses at St. Andrews, Muckross makes sense to me.

A "New" course already exists at St. Andrews: Old Tom's late 1890s layout immediately adjacent to the Old Course.

Speaking of new courses though, how's your project going?

Jeff,

They should change the 'New' to 'Old Tom' and call 7th course  'New'.

I am sure if the name of the 'New' course was changed more visitors would play the course.

There's too much history involved. You can't change the name of the New course!

It's simple. Precedent suggests the name of Kidd's course HAS TO be connected to the history of the site. So, let's just hope the powers-that-be don't really screw it up.

My gosh Jeff, I "forgot" there was a "NEW" course at St. Andrews.
You must know that I was playing around with the word but I really do think they would do well naming it something with that word in it.

My new project is coming along just great, we have 6 holes "roughed in".

Not bad for a late November start in the great frozen north eh?
Hard to believe, today we were walking around with light sweaters on, and when operating the bulldozers etc. the heaters were off and sometimes the windows were open.

When we get some freezing temperatures we will be excavating a 14 Million (Imperial) gallon reservoir.

Come down and have a look, you and any other GCA guys are always welcome.
