White Men can Jump

Well at least when Geoff Childs challenges you to use a driver on a par 3 (into the wind), you hit the green and Neil Regan snaps the pic..

Noel,

With the ground sloping away from you, you got, what, maybe 5 or 6 inches off the ground?  Come on, some jump ::)  ;)

Happy holidays, my friend.  Best wishes to you and yours and here's hoping we get in some 2007 rounds together.

As is mine, that man's vertical leap is best measured with sheets of paper...

As an eyewitness to this verticality, let me set the story straight:

Noel did indeed hit driver and reach the green (a feat he had been having trouble with even using all the other super new hi-tech clubs in his bag that day ;) ;D. What he's failing to mention was that a certain & special FI employee had left a very large fish head (big striper I think? :o) on the far side of the tee box. The fish's mouth had a remote recording device playing a recording of his wife asking "where he was right now...and why wasn't he at home....???"

Of course, Noel's reaction was completely justified and thus his vertical (sic) leap was clearly his maximum reaction to a natural fear. :D

I take it Noel will never be described as a young man with both feet on the ground...  ;D

Isn't this you also?

Actually, Noel is levitating in that second picture, Dick.   Years of study of Eastern philosophy taught him that little trick!

Happy holidays to all of you other nutcases who know Noel well like me.  ;D

Hope to see a LOT more of all of you guys in 2007!!

I've seen that NAF jump on the 10th at Deal from a standing position, after a fine eagle set up by a career drive.  I felt the thump of that firm links ground upon his landing back to earth.

I just came to the realization that I have truly come under the spell of the mystical enlightenment among a cult of lunatic followers of The Bagwhan Shwami Golfari, when I have to face the scarry fact that I possess a Noel Freeman monk levitation photo in my album of pictures...and chant each morning in hopes he shall rise again. ::) ;D 8)  oohhmm

White men can jump? That's a relative statement at best because white men can't jump very high and they apparently pretty much need to jump off of built up engineered tee boxes and such and so.  ;)

Now, on the other hand, and under the premises, if that shot was hit by Michael Jordan and he decided to jump for joy, all you would see in that photograph is that beautiful Biarritz, Geoff Childs and Michael's size 15D shoes at the very tippitop of that photograph.

Steve- now don't remind me about how I could have got in trouble.. Or are you just jealous of how I played that day even with your constant needling even though we had no match going on.. I do believe I drove the ball like Hogan.. ;D

RJ- all I can say is that was a titanic drive (I've decided to be like Ran in describing my game from now on, all GOOD, never bad).. It went something like 330 yards--- I believe Neil Regan then asked me to leap for joy and that is how he nicknamed me the leaper... And thus began the legend.. I only leap for Neil though--sort of like how people pose for Annie Leibovitz...

The weather is too mild in the NE for NAF to break out the great shots of the year. However I enjoy all. Cheers

Here's the rub:  no one has yet commented on the Rico Suave pose that Dr. Childs is striking while Noel is doing that Disco Duck move off the tee box. And why is that?

The truth about this picture is the following.

TEPaul was playing in front of Noel's group, as a guest and with the President of the club, his wife and his daughter.

Impatient with TEPaul's snail like pace and anxious to play, Noel teed off with his driver just as the group in front was about to walk off the green, when TEPaul stopped and turned to the President and his family and said,
"isn't this a lovely view ?"

Noel's tee shot then hit TEPaul squarely in the head, on the fly.

Those of you who know TEPaul will then be familiar with what happened next.

Yes, the dreaded trampoline effect.

The ball caromed off TEPaul's head with substantially increased velocity whereupon it struck the President's wife and daughter, a masterful quiniela, knocking them both out on the green.   TEPaul, of course, was unhurt, save for the ball's logo and number which is now permanently stamped in his forehead.

The President of the club, upon witnessing this double play looked at TEPaul and said, "do you know who hit that ball ?  They'll never leave this island alive "

TEPaul replied, " I think it was Tom MacWood or David Moriarty.  In fact, it might have been both of them."

Noel, seeing what just happened decided that discretion was the better part of valor, and abandoned the tee, post haste, leaving the good Dr Childs standing there to take full responsibility.

This move, on Noel's part, was also witnessed in the last scene in "Animal House" by a character who bears an uncanny likeness to Noel.

Dr Childs was about to learn that his malpractice insurance did not cover this event.  And, as is so eloquently captured in the photo, is last seen staring into the camera asking Neil the question, "can you believe what this idiot just did ?  He ended our round with 13 holes to play"

Neil Regan's whereabouts is unknown.

TEPaul, ever the diplomat, suggested to the President, that he look at the good side of the incident, stating that whomever the golfer was, this was much cheaper than having to pay for an exceptional matrimonial lawyer and dealing with equitable distribution.
