Delaveaga in Santa Cruz should win the award for the narrowest entire golf course.

Actually John, no it shouldn't ... perhaps other than the first hole, there is always a bail out area at DeLousyeaga - the saying goes, hook the ball on the front side, fade it on the backside ... if you do so, you will never lose a ball in a hazard or tree ...

Dela's charm for Huckaby is the length not the narrowness in that he assume bombers will always hit driver when the strategic play is to play to the safe spot on the fairway.

For the most part, this discussion is talking about vertical narrowness and I don't think Dela fits that bill ... except #16 ...

Mr. Benham is correct as to one of the reasons I find DeLav charming... I win a lot of money against unthinking bombers there.

But as for the narrowness, well... 1 and 16 are the narrowest, but no hole there is particularly wide.

Which is another reason I win money there... usually taking it from people who blithely think it's hook on the front, fade on the back.

Here is an example of almost 360 narrowness  ...  that one little bitty branch hanging from the trees on the right catches many a ball, even more so with the hole location this day ...

ive got a couple...

US wise.... Has anyone played ""THE CLAW""

in Tampa area, university course of someone... i played a college tourney there in 99 and there was a par 5 on the back nine which scared the sh*t out of everyone off the tee and for the second lay up... dog leg left sharp...

The Claw at University of South Florida. That is a nasty one. Cypress swamp on both sides. All in all, the USF course is pretty good.

Not been playing a lot, because of the weather and a new baby..., but I'd love to go out to the European club sometime in the new year. I may even have clubs with grooves on the face by then.

Anybody mention the 17th at TPC-Sawgrass?  I've played there 8-10 times and haven't found the fairway yet........

#10 at, where else, The Ranch has the smallest fairway I've ever seen for a non par-3 hole. The entire fairway is maybe 20 yards wide and 50 or 60 yards long. (Total probably less than 10,000 square feet.) By the way, the shot is 100 feet downhill, on a windy hillside with a hazard right and OB left. Fun times. Maybe not the world's narrowest hole but possibly one of the world's smallest fairways.

William King;

We played 'Players Club' a month ago. That indeed is a very long, narrow hole, where you must make choices about need for length and need for accuracy.

Like the course a lot, BTW. After five holes thought it might be a bit 'ho hum', but then it livens up a lot!

Doug

Have only played it twice, but I find it has quite the variety. Very enjoyable and a stern test.
