ID These Heathland Paintings
« on: November 20, 2006, 08:34:35 PM »
Apart from maybe the first one, these are v difficult.  But lets have some guesses.

This one is easier.  A great short 3.  The view in the background is a clue.

It sold for 7500 pounds!

This one is well off the beaten track; the background vista is gone due to the trees.

This one didn't have the hole ID in its title but I'm fairly confident in knowing its origin.

And finally this one, which is a GCA favourite but the artist has picked an unusual hole from the 18 and used some license in painting it.

Another 7.5K pounds

The third one made me think of Sunningdale.

I enjoyed those a lot Paul.

Marc, good spot with 13th at the Blue.  I initially thought it was the 11th at Liphook.

#1 is the 5th at West Sussex

#2 is the 6th at East Devon (hardly recognisable)

#4 is the 4th at Addington (recognise is now?)

Let's make GCA grate again!

Tony, thanks for showing the world that horrible-looking follow-through. Time to book a lesson I guess

You know I was convinced that picture was East Devon. I even scoured their website for confirmation. Thought it was #1 though.

Cheers Paul and by the way, you must have a great original picture of the Addington one that you could post for comparison.

That's the uphill par-3 third at Addington.

The painting is titled the 4th at Addington.  I agree, there is some license from the painter, the mounding and terrain has been exagerated.

Russell was refering to the old photo being the 3rd.

Yes, the modern photo with the two bunkers is the 3rd.

But is the old black and white pic the 4th?  I think it's the 4th because of the tilt of the land.
