American Clubhouses--Photo Quiz (w/ answers)

OK, so most of these will be fairly recognizable, but at least it's a diversion from the DRS squabbling or rules nitzing or whining about the Ryder Cup!

and, for the Baker's dozen, since it is a tenet of GCA that this club cannot be excluded from any list-making threads...

Which do you feel best captures the flavor and feel of the club and surroundings it represents?

I've hunted around #6 a lot this past summer, and that tee on #8 may interrupt an otherwise pleasant lunch!

#13 is incredible.  There are some places on the front nine where you can look back and see the clubhouse and the windmill side by side.  8)

It is indeed very comfortable in its perch above the 1st and 18th holes, and must be visible for a long distance across the bay.

If you are a member..clubhouse architecture can have a huge bearing on the enjoyment of a club.

Peter,
NGLA and TCC are my two favorites from your survey as well as The Orchards for its simplicity.

And one I am intimately inclined to like.

Cheers,
Steve

Alas, TCC does not appear amongst the 13--perhaps you near-sightedly forgot to look a bit northeast!?!?

There's more than one yellow clubhouse in the country? I thought TCC was the only one.

I also didn't see TCC in there.

#3 I know from Links article and Ran's write-up.

#5 Recently finished restor/renovation (to course) is excellent.

#6 Big enough Valley, huh?

#8  Kyle, that's not a tee, though a great setting for the 9th green.

#9 Was thinking Jeld-Wen at first, then changed mind.

#13 from pics.

myopia Hunt, Inverness and Merion are 3 I believe I recognize
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

The only one I recognize is Myopia with the 16th green in the foreground.

Unless they are from odd angles, I don't think TCC or Merion are among the pics.

Merion is not there, as I tried not to duplicate what had already been posted...

I won't swear to that same principle in part 2, however!

Yes, Jason, #10 is indeed at one of the most sublime settings in golf, in my opinion, and I intentionally put the picture in that spot--nice catch.  Those of you who have purchased Chris Clouser's book should recognize that one...

Myopia, Huntingdon Valley and NGLA are all I recognized.  This is harder than I thought it would be.

If you can't get #2, well...go straight to jail.

#6 looks different now--construction was going on when I interviewed there in 2/2005

If I've got #8, it's 10 minutes from where I grew up.

#11 looks sooo familiar...

I'm surprised more people don't recognize 2. Maybe if it were multi-colored people might recognize it?

Perhaps they haven't played it in enough different wind conditions and directions to have recognized it???[/color]

#3 looks like the little Vermont Inn run by Dick and Joanna Loudon and frequented by Larry and his two brothers Darryl and Darryl.

#5 is the Meadow Club, which was always exceptionally fun to play on Mondays (caddie day).  Good memories.

You have to admit the architectural merit of #2 is around a zero.

BTW, I know the club. It deserves better.

#4 is the Orchards.  A wonderful clubhouse and the view from the porch is spectacular as about 5 or 6 holes are in sight.
