We missed everybody today...  Spent about 15 mins at the windmill.  Oh well.

What a match.  Mike McCoy of Des Moines won 4 and 3.  There were some woderful shots out there.

What a golf course.  It's the third tournament I've seen at PV, and it never gets old.   To me, a lot of the fun comes from hearing folks seeing the course for the first time.  Awe is a word that I heard a lot today.

But the funniest was a 30-something lady wondering out loud if the course was open for public play.  Brought a lot of chuckles from those around her.

We in Philly have some darn good golf, don't we.

Dan,

I was looking for you today.  I played golf so didn't get there until about 2pm.  My youngest son, John, and I walked around with Kyle Krahenbuhl (his first time) holes 1-15.  We caught up to the Championship final at 14 but bypassed the crowd and departed on 18 after walking down the steep slope from 9 green to 18 fairway.  This was John's first time and we had a blast.  But my dogs were BARKING after walking 18 earlier in the day after twisting my ankle in a snap valve hole walking onto the best first tee in Philadelphia.  Ouch!

Dan H,

I was at the windmill for a bit around 2pm. Oh well.

Anyone know how long the carry is to the fairway from the way back tee down to the right on #18?  Looks brutal but not sure if it's just deception.

Interesting to see the different 2nd shots on the short #12. Maybe a 70 yard shot. Some flew it to the hole, one I saw flew it over the hole, some bumped and ran, some pitched it.  Love the options there.

I followed a few groups today and it seemed the senior group had the most trouble with the wind.  It was fairly breezy and some shots were 2 club misses.  But jeez those guys were good.

Kyle, you were lucky you had a good tour guide in Wayne.

Best line heard today.  From a guy talking to his wife answering,  "Oh yeah, this tournament is big..it's HUGE.  Tiger was winning this sh** back in the day."

It's 248 yds.

It was a wonderful day.  Wayne was an amazing guide.

The course looked great and those greens are mind blowing.  My only question...what are those round bunkers on 11 doing out there?

Dan,

Merion East.

Tom Paul,

Interesting, same distance to the fairway as #18 at Merion East.  One downhill, one slightly uphill.  So the 18th hole at PV plays about 475 or so?
