Alfie the site says

The original game played with the original equipment
on the world's oldest playing golf course.

but makes no mention of playing with pre 1935 design balls.  Who could put them straight on that? Did you get my email?

PS Do you think my 51 for 9 holes would stand a chance? ;D
Let's make GCA grate again!

Tony,

Just noticed your mesage tonight. reply on it's way. Can't do the full £m but scraped together £750K. ;)

This year's Open is being played at Cragielaw (not far from Musselburgh) and I'm not sure what balls they're going to use ? perhaps the OGA Volvik's or more likely my friend Hickory Homer's Lattice pattern replica's. The same one's you played with at Old M'burgh before you decided to go "professional" with real gutta percha ! ;)
Talking of replica's.....my hickory clubs are of no use for such an occasion  :'(

"PS Do you think my 51 for 9 holes would stand a chance?  "

I think by the the time that you deduct half of that dodgy handicap from your gross score...you'd have strokes in hand over the rest of the field  :)

You know Hickory??? :-)
Here is a link showing him playing a shot out of gorse at the Eden.
http://www.thegemme.com/scotland/movies.html
select 'Chris Homer from the Gorse'

Funny thing was Els had a similar shot in the Open, and didn't fare as well as Chris did.
Give my love to Mary and bury me in Dornoch

David,

Chris and I are a bit like "kindred souls" in the world of hickory. Great guy.

Thanks for the link - and I had a wee peek at your exhibitionism play from the bunker too  :D

BTW. I also happen to have known President Bush for some time now ! Although I don't suppose he knows me  ;D
