My day with three fly guys..
« on: August 28, 2006, 12:14:34 AM »
Sean Leary, Bob Jenkins, and my uncle.

We played at Aldarra, a fantastic private club designed by Tom Fazio.
This was my first Fazio experience and I have to admit I truly enjoyed it.  I do not think all the fuss is worth it over the subtle containent issue but that is just me. I feel that if the courses he does have to have cartpaths then there needs somehow to be a way where they are blocked of and out of sight.  When I first saw this subtle contaimnet I could not see what all the fuss was about.

One thing I noticed was how nice the greens were.  The slopes made for numerous hole locations which were fun, crazy, and challenging.  I felt none of the slopes were underdone and each green had its own character.  Each hole had a green which seemed to immaculately blendin with the hole with which we were playing and I loved the overall green complexes as well.  The bunkers were well placed and interesting and really made you think about where you needed to place your tee shot, which IMO is good design.

And, I locved the big, undulating fairways.  Level lies were not the norm and thus shots were made fun and challenging.  Placement in fairway had a lot of value with how you had to approach pins, and the placement of fairway bunkers challenged the best position. Fairway bunkers, and the placement of, were very good and made for an overall fun and strategic game of golf, at least off the tee.

And last, the company was great.
Bob is a great guy whom I really liked.
I had never met Sean before as I did not show up the day I was supposed to caddy forhim but he still seemed nice enough.
 ;D ;D ;)
My uncle is just fly.  Nuff said.

Jordan, could you please define "fly."

Is "fly" good?  Is "fly" bad?

Jordan its always enjoyable playing your first course of a particular architect. I got Forrest out of the way Friday and next on the list is Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw on Tuesday. Talking Stick North, I know you are jealous!

And all this time Sean has been telling us there is no decent golf in Seattle. ;)

Jordan,

In English slang a 'fly' person is is basically a spiv or a drone, a petty criminal.

"something or someone that is particularly attractive."

"That girl is fly in her thong and boots."

To a baby boomer from Taiwan, it would mean roughly equivalent to what hood meant to a baby boomer from the US.

Jordan do yourself a favor and buy a digital. Tell your parents they can write it off. Im glad you stayed away from the super gay outfits you usually wear good call to keep it down at the country clubs  ;D
