How many of you actually played the old greens at Medinah?  Although I think there were consistently faster and more interesting, anyone who has played those greens must admit that they were patently unfair.

Unfair?

I highly doubt that.

Maybe the desire to have them cut below their optimal speed was to blame?

To disfigure the classic contouring, and then call them "classic" is the worst form of spin. Flat out lies.

It's been my pleasure to have learned from the articulated arguments of many on GCA.com that the road American GCA took, starting in the mid twenties, was the WRONG road.

Medinah exemplifies this wrong road in spades, and one need not play the course to know that.

Ryan,

I played them.  They used to be considered some of the wildest greens out there, but Shoreacres topped them.  They were more difficult that the average set of greens, though.  That's why it is weird for me to hear them described as generally benign this week.

I think there were a few other greens rebuilds over the years that didn't get the attention of the Rees or Roger Packard redos.  I think Bob Lohman did several in the late 80's or early 90's, including 16 and possibly 1, and others.  Most were to get greens that stressed in the heat of earlier tournaments better agronomically, but they were probably flattened a bit, too.

That is from memory, so, as always, I could be wrong.

Does anyone have any experience with Rich Harvest Links, is that considered Chicago?

Is there  a reason no one has mentioned Kemper Lakes?

As a regular tour stop and former major venue, I'd think it would be up there just for it's finishing holes alone, unless it is abhorred on here for some strange reason?

For a good time, these are my favorite Chicagoland-area courses, in no particular order:

Chicago GC
Beverly CC
Olympia Fields - North
Medinah #3
Butler National GC
Shoreacres
Cog Hill #4 - Dubsdread
Kemper Lakes
The Dunes Club
Black Sheep

Nick, Rich Harvest is not, and should not, be on this list.

Chris, I think you'll get a post from Dave Schmidt.

Elaborate, because this is the first time I've heard of this.

All I know is, from aerials and pictures, is it looks like a great track, with holes 7, 8, 11, 16, 17 and 18 standing out.
