The mags have the openings, no one lists the names of the closures.

Twin Eagles - Naples FL - Steve Smyers w/Pat Andrews
Summit Rock - Austin  tx - Jack Nicklaus
.5 -  4 new holes at the North Course at La Costa - now called the Champions Course - Damian Pascuzzo, Steve Pate, Jeff Brauer  ;D
Evans Prairie - The Villages, Fl - Clifton, Ezell & Clifton
Cold Spring - Belchertown Ma. -construction started in 2000, but not opened until mid summer '12

The Twin Eagles course in Naples was a Steve Smyers redesign not an opening.  I don't know how the NGF treats redesigns for statistical purposes.

The course I was involved constructing last year, it opens in a couple of months. Should be interesting to see how its rated!!!

What does that course have to do with opening in 2012?
That course's routing and land plan was criticized in the treehouse already.

I don't think a par 3 course or 4 new holes would count on their stats - anyone know?
I thought Streamsong had their grand opening this year.

I think we've got over 1/2 of them at this point...

Mike the course was sheduled to open in December 2012, unless you have the details from the NGF there is a possibility it was included in the total!!!!

As for the people on the site being critical of routing and the design of the course, maybe if they knew the scope of the job and what the parameters of the project I might give a flying fish about what they think.

Every job is different, we cant all be involved in perfect sites with great conditions for growing grass. That's the problem with some people on this site people see a topographic map, hear the project budget and the who's designing it and then make unsubstanstiated criticisms of a course.

Can we really count that as new, The Ambush at Lajitas was probably less than 5 years old before it was destroyed and this was built.

Grand Opening was in January, the day before the Renaissance Cup ... but they started taking paying customers on December 21st.

If they got up to 13 1/2 new courses, I've got to believe they counted Streamsong for two of them.

Hard to believe they called the minor rerouting of 4 holes as part of our rebuild at LaCosta as half a new course.  I mean, it had 18 holes before, and it has 18 holes now.

For that matter, really on 16 changed locations at all.  We extended tees on 2 a bunch...moved a tee on 1, added an alternate tee on 5, extended other tees from 5-15 yards.

I would call it a new course, but in reality, I need to build up my resumes of redo's to look better on those RFQ for renovations.....

I just threw that one in there to account for the .5.  :)

Glaze Meadow ( Sisters, Ore., John Fought)  rebuilt all of its 18 greens, tee boxes,l bunkers, removed trees, and lengthened the course from 6,574 to 7,007 yards.  It re-opened  Memorial Day, 2012.

Lyman Orchards in Middlefield CT opened a 9 hole, par 29, 1,600 yard course in 2012.

I think it opened up around Labor Day in 2011.

edit: You're right, although some guys were allowed on it in 2011.

First time back to Lazy Swan GC in Saugerties NY since they added the new nine, and here's one of the new ones, hole #7.
We played it at around 135 yards and I didn't know quite what to expect when looking at it from the tee box-



If you were thinking that it's the world's shortest Redan, guess again.  ;D

Yes, it's one of these...


...with a reasonably deep swale and a green that's about 50 yds. deep and 18 yds. wide. Kind of skinny, but it is short. I'm standing in the swale directing my pal Steve to his ball, after I (from looking at the approach) foolishly told him that I thought he could aim to the left side and the shoulder would kick it on.  :-[  



So I am wondering, was it Barry Jordan (the architect) or Brad Klein (a consultant of his)  who thought up the idea for a blind Biarritz that somewhat resembles a Redan from the tee yet plays at the same yardage as a Short?  :o ;D  

Number 8, while a blast to play, might have had a few "extra" bunkers, but I thought I'd post it for the view.
The mountain in the background is aptly named, Roundtop.
