Gents, having been going to Lawsonia for many years, I say this with the most spoiled of attitudes, but; I have never wanted a round at Lawsonia to be over more than Wednesday. I indeed was near Cirba'd. As you can see by the "unflattering but probably all too accurate photo of me on the first tee" I needed to have my shirt out, as it was soaked just from the few practice balls hit. I changed out of that shirt after 9 easily being able to wring it out it was so soaked. I thought I'd get a little free medical advise from our fellow GCA poster, Dr. Herried, asking him what I could do about this distressing condition. He just shrugged, as huge dropplets of perspiration fell from his noggin as well.

As for the episode of being Cirba'd. I hit a miserable sky ball'd tee shot, only 3/4 way up the hill of the otherwise wonderfully visual driving hole, par 5, 11th. As I walked up to the ball that lay ahead of the gull winged diagonal driving bunker up the right side, I saw Elvis, two bunkers, and three balls of which I selected the middle one to hit my next shot. That hill did me in, and every walk to the next ball, every tee ball and the rest of the round was agony. I did seriously think of packing it in as I was pretty faint.
Well, no excuses, I shot my worst round in memory, 105. Frankly, one doesn't ever want to do so, let alone in the company of all your GCA pals. Crazy thing is I made a few nice swings off the tees and a few pars (a sandy one on one of my very favorite holes-6 par4, also oddly others at par 5s, 13 and 18) But, man what 3 9s and several triples can do to your score card is devistating. I'd hit a decent drive like puring it off 15 and 16, only to toe shank one into native unfindable for a second shot...

I did that all day, because I kept choosing the wrong ball of a three ball selection to hit in the throes of the heat.

The punch line is, that I played our home course the next day, with Randy and Jerry as two of my regular 4some. I shot my second best round of the year, needing only a bogey on the last hole to finally break 80 on our home course for the first time. I made a triple...

But, the Lawsonia group was a highlight to meet some new people, and the dinner was very nice at Jeff Penkwitz's new enterprise restaurant (the ex director of golf at Lawsonia) just a mile outside the Lawsonia gate. (JT Skewers Restaurant on hwy 23 east of the gate) When you go there, don't miss it It is a very nice selection of quality food and drinks.
