Just a random thought this morning. Is there any golf course in the United States more than a couple of months old that hasn't been played by at least one GCA poster?

I don't know how we'd figure this out but certainly we have all the top courses covered (right?). If anything maybe there's a small town muni in Iowa or something that none of us has been to.

What do you think. Have we played them all?

While I haven't played Gloucester CC, I have played Hobbs Hole in Tappahannock.

What would be interesting to find out is what opened course, of architectural interest has no one played yet?

The least played archtectural interest course would probably be Augusta.

How about La Domaine Forrest? Has any of the Canadian contingent played it? Paging -Yannik, Robert Andrew??

Yes, I know you and Matt Ward make me look like a piker.

I also have a friend in NE PA who has played over 1000, but he still has no taste in architecture.   Spoke to him 2 days ago and he told me he HATED Lederach.  

Just let me know when you're going to be around.   My schedule should free up after mid-July.

1,500 maniacs, with a reckless disregard for their credit card limitations and obviously unemployed, most (as far as I can tell) with dysfunctional home lives, thus with all the free time in the world, all trying to out-travel and out-see the next guy: that's not a formula for missing much golf course action.

Obviously, the data base is skewed, since each individual judges his/her performance against that of the group's and there's no way to out-compete that collectivity. On a case-by-case basis, I assure you everyone has their own masisve gaps, but together, it's a frighteningly experienced group.

Has anyone on this site actually played Augusta National? If so what was the experience like. I have walked it, but couldn't imagine taking a divot! What did you shoot? Three/four putts? Besides Augusta has anyone played any of the socalled private personal courses like Walter Annendale's in Palm Springs.

This brings to mind a madman friend of mine that will be attempting to play every single 9 & 18 hole golf course in New Zealand in one calendar year starting on the 1st of August.  That's 399 courses in 365 days.  A bunch of us just got back from playing 10 courses in 8 days over in Melbourne in crappy, cold, rainy weather.  Didn't want to touch a club for 2 weeks.  To my mind, I think it's impossible.  He's giving it a go however...

Most people in Gloucester don't even know that Gloucester CC exists. It's at the end of a red dirt road with a dirt parking lot marked by a small sign off HWY-17. I live 15 minutes away and know only two people who have told me that they've played the course. I drove out there one day out of curiosity but didn't play.  Surprisingly, it's  listed on the VSGA web site as a member club with slope and course rating.

If my post was enough to bring you out of hiding, then I'm pretty darn happy that I played Apple Mountain, particularly the famed 650 yard 17th hole down the old ski slope that does a 90 degree turn for the last 150 or so yards.  

Let Harry Colt try to top that one!
