Minchinhampton Old, Cleeve Hill & Painswick

I was just wandering around the R & A site (check out the scores for The Amateur Championship being played at St. Georges and Princes) and found the following pdf article on these three courses:

Visiting the Origins of Golf

Neat stuff.  As they say in the article, if you like your golf "Augusta-style" these probably aren't for you, otherwise they look like great fun.

I know we've talked a lot about Painswick here, but what about the other two?

If the other two are as much fun as Painswick, golf in the Cotswolds gets an A+.  Both the other courses do appear to have more length if less quirk perhaps.  The shots up in the Iron Age fort at Painswick alone are worth the trip.

the view from the top of the iron age fort alone is worth the trip, let alone playing golf into, within and out of it.

I returned the next day after playing with Sean Arble, and took wife and mother-in-law up to the top.  We did cheat a little though, by parking near the 4th tee where the road cuts through the course.  It was nearly as much fun as playing with Sean Arble .

I've played two of those, Painswick and Minchinhampton and walked abit of Cleeve Hill.

The first small photo of Minch's 16th just gives a hint of what a fine hole it is.  A par 3 to match the 6th at Painswick.
