Westport Washington - 2 new courses?
« on: May 22, 2007, 10:10:23 PM »
I just happened across the following website:

http://lanco-dev.com/

It talks about a bunch of development in Westport Washington, including 2 golf courses.  One appears to be a links course right at the mouth of the bay called "Half Moon Bay Links" (pretty original name there.)  The other appears to be more inland and is called Coyote Ridge.  To learn more, click on the Opportunities link.  Not much information there, but the dot that indicates the location of the links course looks like it could be pretty interesting.

Anyone know anything about this?

Bump in case any late rising West Coasters missed this.

JVB,

I heard a little about this a while ago, but don't have any details. Maybe a Harbottle deal?

The course is not listed on Harbottle's website.

And according to this story the environmentalist's battle against the course has been going on for four years.

Edit: Westport is on the south peninsula of Grays Harbor.
Ocean Shores, on the north spit, has had a golf course of limited success. A few miles down the coast at Cape Shoalwater and Willapa Bay there is a long history of shore erosion. There is a long history of developments amongst the dunes being cut, inundated and ruined on the Oregon and Washington coasts. The Corps of Engineers will have a lot of muscle in the fight.

Reedit: Moving the housing development back 1000 feet is a good step. But based on the history of the Willapa Light it may not be enough. The original site has been in deep water for a long time and 1500+ acres purchased as a buffer zone is also gone.

Today's news say a settlement has been reached to let the links go ahead.

There has been rumor of another Washington State RT Jones II project at Westport.  Could be the same?
