No, I was not in Sri Lanka (I'd be too afraid of the Mexican Staring Frog, native of the southern part of the island*

), but a lurker sent me these pics he took as part of his participation in the Steel Trophy/Ebert Pot (Steel Trophy for low markers, Ebert Pot for everyone else), held annually there for friends of the architect's firm. (Martin Ebert is a principal/architect in Steel's firm....he worked on Primland, now open in the Virginia, U.S. mountains)
The resort is in the middle of the island, along a spectacular lake/reservoir.
* Sorry, I had to get that South Park reference in there.

The descriptions below are his direct quotes.
"Walking down the first fairway. Dog leg right. A wonderful opener."

"A look from #4 tee to the green. The short hole plays along the ridge. In some ways, this is as binary as Myopia #9, in this case with the terrain sloping off to the right. 116 yards. A favorite."

"Back from #4 green to the tee. The views are stunning all over the course, with Victoria reservoir down to the left of this picture."

"From the tee on #14. Hole is down and around to the left. Hoping for a draw in order to hold the slope….. "

"Practice green at dawn, ahead of the competition for the Steel Trophy & the Ebert Pot. #17 in the background left, heading away. #18 comes back along the right. "

"Fixing a mark on the 8th green."

"Playing up onto #10 green."

"From #11 tee. Fairway slopes to the left -- need to keep the ball right off the tee. No bunkers at the green – I recall this one’s being difficult to hold, and the approach is I think blind up the hill. Steel & Ebert didn’t use bunkers in nearly half the green complexes here."

"#14 again: the second shot after a pushed drive. I think from here I had to land the ball short and left to get the ball onto the green."

"Looking from my room back to the #3 ladies tee. OB to golfer’s right, with slope of fairway an important factor. 'Tiger Line' over the Mara tree on the golfer’s left leaves a wedge into the punchbowl surrounding the green. Dog leg left."

"The suggested manner of getting from Colombo up to Victoria. Sea plane to the reservoir in 30 minutes."
