Jon: Okay, an overreaction on my part. The funny thing about a ranking like this one is that no one is going to object to whatever courses are at the top of your list, but some courses have to go on the bottom whether they are good, bad or indifferent.
I reacted because some of the phrases you used, i.e. "flow" of the routing, quality of bunker shaping, etc., sounded a bit like certain categories in the GOLFWEEK system. But, if you say that your personal favorites are somewhat different than your ratings for GOLFWEEK, do you mind if I ask how? Which courses rate higher in the GOLFWEEK system (on your ballot) than your own off-the-cuff ratings?
I've never really believed that someone could keep their overall feeling about a golf course separate from their "evaluation" of it, which is why I think it's silly to list a bunch of criteria for the panelists to follow.
