Mark,
I'm intimately familiar with the golf course, having played it a few times.
It's a wonderful old course with a great routing.
It's the type of golf course you never get tired of playing.
The greens tend to be small.
Originally, few if any fairway bunkers existed, but, over the years they were added randomly.
Recently the club undertook a renovation project.
Sadly, the 13th green was destroyed and rebuilt, primarily due to green speeds.
The club had three (3) two tiered greens with a substantive differential in elevation between the back and the front.
Putts hit from the top level could no longer hold the bottom level, hence the green was destroyed and rebuilt.
The par 3's provide enormous diversity.
The par 4's are also excellent.
While the par 5's are interesting, they were always compromised by a lack of length and a lack of real estate to lengthen them.
It's a wonderfully sporty golf course, with dogleg lefts, dogleg rights, uphill and downhill holes, creeks meandering through the property affecting play on about 12 holes in varying forms.
The prevailing wind is from the west.
The greens used to be all velvet bent, but now only 10 % of them are velvet.
It's on nice rolling terrain with some good elevation changes along the way.
It's a treat to play day in and day out.
Surprisingly, even though it was about 6,500 yards, it always resisted scoring very well, although, with today's equipment, I think very low scores could be shot.
