Lindsay Ervin

I spent the day today with Lindsay Ervin at Hog Neck in Maryland.  Quite a gentleman and one with an interesting story to tell.  Any other treehouse clan have any Lindsay Ervin experiences?

Jonathan,
I have no idea who you are talking about? Does he go by some pseudonym around here? What is the gist of the story?

Jonathan,

Lindsay Ervin has done some good work, mostly in the VA/MD area.  Here in Charlottesville, VA, he designed Birdwood Golf Course which is an excellent public course and the home course for UVA.

Two of my other favorites of his are Queenstown Harbor which is situated on the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland and a really unique project is the Hilltop Golf Course in Alexandria, VA.  The Hilltop course is a 9-hole layout built on top of a rubble landfill and is really a lot of fun.  There are numerous pot bunkers throughout and the wind really comes into play as the course is situated high above the neighboring terrain on thie anthill like landfill.

Thanks Jimmy - I'm doing an article about Lindsay and Hog Neck.  I have played all the Ervin courses (Birdwood many times - wonderful course) except Hilltop and his new pair at Compass Point (he and I are going to play it sometime over the next several weeks).
