Great course.

Has anybody played and liked it??

All about angles angles angles with fascinating greens and a really great atmosphere.

Anxious to here some of your guy's feelings.

No difference.

Not a dumb question either.

It is called Seattle Golf Club.

I have played it a bit and like it a lot particularly from about Hole 4 on.  They took a out a number of trees 10 years ago or so that helped, and there are 4 very good par 3's.  One of the cooler locker rooms I have seen.  Nice place...

Didn't they play a PGA there?

Glenn,

I don't think so.  Manito in Spokane had one in the 40's. Seattle GC did used to host a Tour event years ago, I believe.

Seattle GC is a great traditional northwest golf club - with a very impressive pedigree.  It's not as well known as many northwest clubs - purposefully so I'm sure.

I understand that Palmer Course Design "updated" some of the golf course, most notably the bunkering.  Their work their has been criticized, but I haven't been there in at least 10 years so I haven't seen it.  It is a great club, and I'm certain it remains a wonderful golf course.

The bunkering was truly amazing and the greens were very inspiring.

As I did not really know the course (this was my first time out), some of the greens really fooled me.  On the first hole, my player hit a chip from about 25 yards and I started saying be way left, kind of in my brain, but the thing is it stayed completely straight and wound up six inches on the left side of the hole.  Very cool.

My favorite hole was #9.  Absolutely beautiful, great bunkering, and an asweome, stellar green.

Hole #2 is very cool as well, as is #11.

I suspect you are thinking Sahalee, which is a different course.

How much original is intact, anybody know?

Isn't this a tree-lined golf course?  I struggle to get too fired up about any tree-lined golf course this side of Oakmont, Winged Foot and the like.

What does it matter if the poor player can putt all the way from tee to green, provided that he has to zigzag so frequently that he takes six or seven putts to reach it?     --Alistair Mackenzie--

I guess not!! My memory is getting worse and worse!!

Michael,

Sahalee? That is just insulting! ;D 8 years ago? I hope I am not losing it that badly. If anyone knows of anything of consequence that was played there, I would love to hear it.

Jack Westland won the 1951 US Amateur at Seattle GC. My mewmory of the course was the fairway bunker placements.
The closer you came to the bunker the better the angle for your next shot.

Michael, after removing some 4000 trees, Oakmont is no longer tree lined.  It is once again wiiiide open.

I really enjoyed SeattleGC.  The terrain and bunkering are wonderful.  It doesn't get the press they deserve but they like it that way.

SGC has a lot of trees, but tree removal has opened up the course a little bit, and it is beautiful.

The trees anyways, are tall and magnificent.

The fairway bunkers are great, and offer great options.
