Since I agreed with Matt, I'll help answer your question to him.

The essential character of Augusta used to be two things:

1.  Severe greens, and
2.  Very wide fairways with no rough.

The first aspect is still intact.  The second has changed completely.  It may not have that much impact for the best players in the world, but it does change the feel of the course completely, and it has significantly more impact for the members and their guests.
