I've used Precepts, HP2 Tour's, NXT Tour's, V1's, V1x's. I tend to use NXT's because most greens are never so hard I feel the need to play a softer ball.
By chance a club pro gave me a 2-pack of Pinnacle Exception's. I began bouncing one off my LW, and though...hmmm...these are soft. The hard "click" wasn't there of the Pinnacle's of the past. Unlike old 2-piece balls, they don't balloon as they did in the past.
I told my buddy that I couldn't tell the difference between the NXT Tour and the Exception on full shots...both had a penetrating flight. Both behaved the same around the greens. Including putting. Distance was the same; no changes in clubbing.
Even if you don't use them in the summer, they're great when conditions get cooler and soft.
