Mark is the local expert so we should defer to him. Weather in the UK is seldom very predictable, alas! It is light until about 6.30pm.

Tim,  If I could predict English weather I'd be an exceedingly wealthy man!  However, if you go to http://www.pol.ac.uk/appl/metstats/
you can look up the monthly weather records from 1998 at the Bidston weather station which is about a mile from Wallasey Golf Club.  Let us know what conclusions you reach!

So what flag will Messr Goodale and Arble be flying under in October? :) Maybe they can be the opposing captains. 8)

Unfortunately I doubt that I'll make able to make it for the full tournament, but if circumstances closer to the date allow it, hopefully I'll be able to come down for a round or two.

Sounds like it will be fun.

Chris - I can't remember where you are going to be based - St Andrews? When do you get over here. It will be good to be able to add an Australian into the mix.

Sean - I just noticed the pound is at a two-year trade weighted low, and forecast to go lower. Maybe that will encourage our American cousins to come and visit us in October. ;D

Philip, It is going to have to go a bunch lower to make that part attractive. Much like when I go to Pebble Beach, one must just use the Visa and pay the bill later without worry as to cost. Everything is double what it is in the US right now.

Tiger

Your perpetual moaning about the prices in Britain coupled with your bling-bling travel schedule defines irony (look it up in your English-Cajun dictionary :)).  If the prices in the UK were double those of the US, a round at the Old Course would be $1,000 rather than the $200 one now pays.  The deal Philip has negotiated at Hoylake and Wallasey would be at least twice the price at comparable venues in the US (if there were any comparable venues....), and we get to drink proper beer in the bargain!
