the family vacation takes me near Black Lake this year....

for those who have played, what are your thoughts? Dave Seanor in Golfweek said it's "stunningly un-Rees-like"; do you agree?

gracias!
only Augusta National left to play from the Top 100!

No. It's very much Rees-like. Much overated among Michigan's public courses.  A very good, solid course, but not among the 20-25 best.

If in the area don't miss it. I would go out of my way to play it again.

Funny thing is I think this was meant as a compliment.   ;D

Paul,

I've not been there but do recall that Ron Whitten thought it was very good and wrote it up some years back.  Perhaps you could find more on his site?

I played there about 5-6 years ago and enjoyed the course, but don't remember that many holes. Some long walks. Carts encouraged because they had bunker rakes on them. But I found it's a long way if you're staying in Traverse City. Go play.
