I can think of few golf excursions I'd rather make. Wanting to do it and being able to do it may be two completely different things, though. I friend of mine did the trip last summer and
just raved about the esperience.

I would be very interesred in such an outing, my personal preference would be a long weekend rather than midweek but I can accomodate either if given sufficient notice.  I've actually begun planning such a trip several times only to be put off by the distance and logistics.

Dick,

Highlands Links has carts nowadays! Only since 1996. And there's plenty of natural oxygen in the great outdoors on Cape Breton!

Brad,

I don't know if you've had a Cape Breton lobster, they're special! They're extra big, and extra tasty! And so is the golf at Highlands Links  ;D

Looks like a decent trip is shaping up... but where are those we expected to jump in immediately: Tom Paul? Pat Mucci? Tommy Naccarato (too far, Tommy?)?

Jeff,
I would love to come but I've already got a trip in May and the Open in June. So a third trip cross-country will probably not fly in my house. Sounds like an awesome opportunity for those who can make the trek.

Ran,

Sounds like an awesome trip; I would be 50/50.  Hoping to talk my bride into a late June week in the San Juan Islands and Seattle while junior is at camp.

H*ll, I can't even seem to drive over to Southern Pines for some cheap golf with my dad at Pine Needles/MidPines/SPGC!

KC, feeling very golf-deprived

Now that NAF is in...

No seriously, I am pretty much in if the invite stands, let me know when the dates are secure, I will look forward to it.

;) Just curious if this trip ever came to fruition and what CBH is like... I'm a big fan of Thompson (though I've only had the opportunity to playing North Oaks GC) and would like to hear if the links is worth the trip ???

It was built & they went.

Check the achives - try either the search function, or look for something from June of last year. There's also a terrific writeup in the coruse profiles.

The trip was a resounding success, but any trip into Canada to visit some of Thompson's best work would be.
