High School Golf Trip
« on: March 15, 2006, 11:45:57 AM »
I had mentioned earlier that the golf team at members of the Pacific Grove HS golf team were planning atrip to scotland over our Spring Break.  The plans have come together splendidly.  With the help of the Secratary at Panmure and their Junior Convenor they have outl lined quite a trip for our kids. Chaperone anyone ;D.  The principal will be going to make sure everything runs smoothly. ;)
Saturday - arrive at Panmure students paired with host families.
Sunday - Tour of Edinburgh.
Monday - Panmure
Tuesday - Cruden Bay a.m Royal Aberdeen p.m.
Wednesday - Carnoustie
Thursday - Kingsbarns and R&A Tour joined by Martin Bonnar
Friday - Panmure and Farewell Dinner.
The people at Panmure have been so generous in their help with all the arrangements ( as well as the good folks at Kingsbarns) to make this very, very, very affordable.

We hope to reciprocate next year.

The fellowship of this game is an amazing thing.

Thanks to those on this site that offered advice.

Cheers,
Stan

Stan,
That is very cool and will be a great experience for the kids. Way to work the chaperone angle. ;) Let us know how it turns out.

Stan,

Congratulations. That looks like a great trip. I tried to put together a similar March excursion for the high school team I coach. The plan was to hit northwest Ireland, but once my players compared temperatures at Co Sligo vs West Palm, it fell through pretty quickly. Oh, well . . .

Wow!  Fantastic - well done, Stan.  Make sure and report after the trip.

And Dan, too bad your kids are such wusses, er I mean prefer warm weather.   ;)  I can guarantee that if any group wants to go to the northern parts of Ireland, my cousin will set up a team match v. locals from Castlerock GC.

 ;D

Boy,
I wish I'd had a Principal like the one at Pacific Grove when I was in High School!!! ;)

I'm soooo looking forward to the visit, Stan. You and the stoodents will have a ball (I need hardly tell you).

I can't imagine what the Juniors at Panmure will make of an invite to California next year. (especially as I know WHERE the PGHS Team gets to play...!) ;D

Martin,
The Pebble Beach Company has pledged their full support for the exchange,(it helps that one of the execs sons is on our team) which will be quite memorable for the Scottish lads.
Look forward to seeing you in a few weeks.
Slainte,
Stan

Stan I played with two of your golf team members last spring at MPCC. Both of you were strong players. One was from Russia and very quiet and the other was a very good player and fun to visit with. Sorry I am at a loss for names. Have a great time on your trip.
