T. Doak on Golf Central, Media Darling?
« on: March 14, 2006, 07:24:53 PM »
TD just got some props from Brian Hewitt's "From the tips."  A new course over seas and one in Montana were mentioned.  Some nice clips from Pac. Dunes . . . the best thing I've seen on the Golf Channel in a long while.

It's good to see, I think, that the mainstream golf media community is taking some notice of GCA and appreciating those excelling in the field today.  I also recall a spot at the US Open in Shinney in '05 (I think).

Is TD becoming a media darling?   ;)

I saw the piece too. TD's course in Scotland near Muirfield was mentioned- The Rennaisance Club at Archerfield- as was Rock Creek in Montana. TD said that both could be in his top 5.

I said what?  Or he just quoted me as saying that?  Because I swear I haven't been near a camera anytime lately talking about either of those courses.

Brian is a friend of a friend of mine, and has been nice to include me in a couple of things over the years.

I do believe Tom as well as some of the other architects on here are getting more notice and prise from the mainstream golf media. I think Tom is really gettig alot of note in the print media. However I do not think he would say he is a media darling say like Rees.

Brian Hewitt said, "I think, Tom Doak told me, that Rock Creek will be one of my top 3 or 4 courses..."

Here's the rest of the quote:

Wow...i was half awake (i see the 7am run) and thought i heard something like --

-Doak has a piece of land near Muirfield he will be working on

-he's perhaps best known for the work at Bandon (roll video)

-he's also working on something in Montana that will be (in TD words) in the top 5 he's worked on...

I did not sleep at a HIE last night, so take this with 3 grains of salt.

Is Rock Creek going to be private, and where is it in Montana?
