Steve Okula,

Pitch and slope are independent of contouring.

The 7th, 10th, 13th, 15th and 17th greens at GCGC are all pitched and/or sloped, and there's not a drop of contour in any of them.

Think of # 1, # 3 and # 6 at NGLA when you think of contouring.

Pat,

I've never been to either ANGC or GCGC, so I have no point of reference.

What is the difference between "pitch" and "slope"?
The small wheel turns by the fire and rod,
the big wheel turns by the grace of God.

Jeff,
The idea to not overseed has been kicked around and we did not overseed our small putting green this year as a test green. Time will tell-We've seen several courses that get similar rounds as we do and their greens have not held up very well at all and we've had a very mild winter. (Only 6 frosts and only 2 days in the 40's for highs) We did not overseed fairways this year and did not in the last. You are correct that the "northerners" love to see the green fairways and we occasionally get a email or letter, but they play so fast, firm and tight. I would guess that we may overseed fwys next year.
