Tom - that is a good question you raise. We shall have to go into emergency conclave to answer it. :) Problem is that you can't really accuse many of us of being Brits as we are just a bunch of mongrels living in the UK. Maybe Mark will own up to being one!

I think part of the answer lies in GCA's centre of gravity being on the other side of the Atlantic so we need an excuse to drag the boys over here. And what with commissioner Finchem hosting all the WGC events in the USA these days we thought it time to try and reverse the trend. :)

I am sure, though, that a nice invititation to visit Stateside would be taken very seriously by us all. :)

Philip, et. al.

When Buda Cup #2 (Painswick--some of us forget all too soon about the initial meeting at Dornoch/Brora in 2003.... :'()was being planned, the concept of alternative years in the US and UK was talked about, but nobody stepped up to the plate for the US for the next year.  Now that Tom Doak has raised this again, how about Crystal Down, or Pacific Dunes or Ballyneal for 2007? :)

In the meantime, Philip, isn't it about time to start getting some firm commitments to Hoylake 2006?

Given recent Olympic results, I think the U.S.'s international butt-kicking days are over.

And if there's a GCA retreat at Crystal Downs this year, I am so there...

lol We GCA Yanks are not burdened with approval of the AOC. We shall continue to play with a swagger. I do like the idea of every other year. I like Ran's plan at big Mac over Cape Breton in October. An excursion to Machrie for a day would not dampen the adventure either.

Rich - I am very conscious of my responsibilities in this area!

I have had a complete work meltdown since Jan 25 and have to go to Chicago this weekend. What I want to do is go and have a look at the accommodation and then post definitively and get commitments.

I reckon if I do this by mid-March latest that we will still be OK - that is still more than 6 months ahead.

Commitment?  You want commitment?  I've already purchased tickets and worked out a post-match itinerary with Mark!  This time around I will be joined by son David McBride who will handle driving chores on any forced carries!  :P
