Can't believe that no-one has mentioned "Straight Down the Middle" by Der Bingle--it's a real golf song, to boot!

A friend of mine from Yorkshire uses the Blue Danube to keep his swing tempo (Dum, dum, dum DA DUM...).

I try to get "Won't Get Fooled Again" into my brain during important rounds, but at the end it's always  "....meet the new boss, same as the old boss....."

I can not believe that Mr simper has not chimed in on this yet. He has got me hooked on singing that song from the Tiger Woods commercial where he is a little kid playing in the Open,  Faces - oh la la. What a catchy song and it matches the commercial perfect.

"I'm Alright" by Kenny Loggins

Great call.

"Nobody's Fool" from Caddy Shack II. ;)

Sad to say the song sequel was similar in quality to the movie.

I love the music at the end of the original Caddy Shack as the golf course is being blown up.

As mentioned, "Straight Down the Middle" by Bing Crosby.

Here are the lyrics for you young folks:

- Bing Crosby Lyrics - STRAIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE Lyrics

Fore!

Straight down the middle
It went straight down the middle
Then it started to hook just a wee wee bit
That's when my caddie lost sight of it
That little white pellet has never been found to this day
But it went straight down the middle like they say

Whack down the fairway
It went smack down the fairway
Then it started to slice just a smidge off line
It headed for two then it bounced off nine
My caddie says long as you're still in the state you're okay
Yes it went straight down the middle quite a ways

The sun was never brighter
The greens were never greener
And I was never keener to play
I heared it came down the middle
It went zing down the middle
Oh the life of a golfer is not all gloom
There's always the lies in the locker room
And I'm in my glory when wrapped in a towel I say
That it went straight down the middle today

Oh the life of a golfer is not all gloom
Though they should charge just for listening in the locker room
But I'm in my glory when wrapped in a towel I say
That it went straight down the middle
Where it wound up is a riddle
But it went straight down the middle far away
"Some of us worship in churches, some in synagogues, some on golf courses ... "  Adlai Stevenson
Hyman Roth to Michael Corleone: "We're bigger than US Steel."
Ben Hogan “The most important shot in golf is the next one”

"...I can see clearly now the rain is gone..."

Had the song stuck in my head once about ten years ago, and I am still searching for the swing tempo I had that day.  I don't think I missed a fairway, and probably hit about 16 greens.

The best song for me is one that seems to fit the tempo that I normally play.  For some reason, I like the flow of UB40's song 'The Way You Do The Things You Do'.  It's not too fast nor too slow.  Sort of a soft raggae and smooth.

As far as a song for while Im actually playing golf if they made a Coors Light golf song that would get me really motivated.

I love, getting hole in ones
Making your partners stunned
And making that one shot...

I love, the feeling of birdie
The eagle not the green fee
And twins

while waiting for my turn to tee off I allow Sinatra to coach me.

The problem now, of course, is to simply hold your horses
To rush would be a crime 'cause nice 'n' easy does it
Nice 'n' easy does it
Nice 'n' easy does it every time

[SPOKEN] "Like the man says, 'one more time' "

Nice 'n' easy does it
Nice 'n' easy does it
Nice 'n' easy does it every time
Let's make GCA grate again!

Sirputtsalot/Kyle-Giant Hogweed remastered. Had a little free time this weekend, eh? ;D

"I Still haven't Found What I'm Looking For" --U 2

"Diggin in the Dirt"  Peter Gabriel

Both would have been appropriate for me this past weekend as I
lined up a few too many downhill putts at Barona and Rustic (man those greens are firm and quick--as they should be!), and also got some nice first hand looks at Gil Hanse's masterful use of the waste area on so many of Rustic's holes.

"Green Grass and High Tides" --Outlaws -for the lush,well-irrigated
                                                        contingent.

One day last year I had a live version of Phish's "Tweezer" playing on the way to the course.  The song stuck vividly in my brain and I got into such a good rhythm I was 1 under at the turn.  Unfortunately I woke up and finished with a 78.

Alas, the magic has never returned.

Anything by Jake Trout and the Flounders... ;D

Speaking of fishy goings-on, I often find myself humming Schubert's Quintet, Op. 114 on the Golf Course. It has a nice, jaunty pace to accompany the walking...

I couldn't agree more. Check out this very cheesy midi version. "Man meets Trout, and Trout loses" - BRILLIANT!

The song played prior to the golf telecasts on ABC in the 70s.

I believe it was called "Love's Theme".

Are you maybe thinking of "Breezin' " (George Benson)

stavros - no, Gene has it right.  The two songs are similar for sure... but Barry White's "Love's Theme" is DEFINITELY the old ABC golf music.  For awhile I made this same mistake... then I listened to the two back to back.

Check them out.

Love's Theme is a constant on my Ipod.  My kids call it "that awful golf music."

"Golfin' Blues" by Louden Wainright, goes something like this, in an acoustic, Mississippi River delta, style blues, ...

Walkin' down by the golf course,
Watchin' them golfers golf,
Watchin' them hit their golf balls,
They're ridin' in their golf carts.

Mr. Jones shot a birdie,
Mr. Smith shot a par,
Mr. Brown shot a bogey, oh no!
He's downstairs drinkin' in the clubhouse bar.

Watch out for that sand trap,
Wear your golfin' shoes,
Watch out for that frog pond,
Watch out for them golfin' blues.
The small wheel turns by the fire and rod,
the big wheel turns by the grace of God.

For years ABC used Barry White's "Love's Theme" during their intro. In my mind it is classic. I have always referred to it as "Golf's Theme". I can still see Chris Schenkel in front of the Merion Clubhouse with Golf's Theme in the background.

I agree with Mike Young about Loggin's Augusta theme. The first time I drove onto the sacred grounds of ANGC the song was playing on the radio. Even the thought gives me goose bumps!
