I won't bore you with backstory, especially since some of you know that I made my long awaited trek to Pebble Beach this past Labor Day weekend...
See the pictures below for a brief highlight..
First, I must offer proper respect to my caddie, Rock. I cannot emphasize enough the value of a caddie, especially at a course like Pebble Beach. He is absolutely the reason I played well. Here you can see Rock after our tee shots on the seventh. This was BEFORE I three-jacked it from 15 feet. (Rock even tried to take the blame --- yeah, like he's the one with the yips).
Rock had the perfect line for the tee shot on eight. I hit a three-wood that appeared very satisfying from the box. As became the custom of the day, Rock and I discussed golf, music, and current events as we climbed the hill to the fairway. If nothing else, he kept me in a great state of mind.
We settled on a hybrid for the next shot, around 210 yards. I used my Titleist 503H, 19-degree, Adila NV Stiff for the result you see below... (reverse angle) *** Note the plug, Titleist!!!
*** NOTE: The small ball mark in front of the cup.
I cannot tell you what a thrill it was just to clear the cliffs & cove. It was the shot I had psyched myself up for the entire trip. I knew I could take that confidence to get through the ninth and tenth holes.
All hail Rock!!
Again, all credit to Rock, as this picture was his idea --- in his words, "put it in proper perspective."
My dad always told me that a hand written letter was the proper way to extend a courtesy. Last week I mailed a letter to the Head Golf Professional, Chuck Dunbar. I made sure to praise Rock, emphasizing how invaluable he was to my experience. Rock is absolutely the salt-of-the-earth, Jimi Hendrix loving, earring wearing, golf enthusiast that makes an authentic caddie. I cannot thank him enough.
Oh, I did score a 77 from the blue tees (6700 yards). With the requisite 6 on the 12th (ha).
Man, I feel as if I have died and gone to heaven. Thanks guys for letting me brag a little.
