How many tour courses would you play?
« on: January 16, 2006, 03:28:34 PM »
As a self proclaimed nutty collector of courses, I often ask myself after watching any tour event, (PGA, Champions etc) do you want to play that course?  More often than I would care to admit, the answer is No.  Of the tour courses I have played there are not very many I wish to play again.

It doesn't say much about the courses they are playing.
Before you get too excited there are many courses that I would play any day of the year.  Most of those courses however, have been tour stops for a long time.

I would play ANY course any time, depending on the $$$. :)

I'd probably play any of them too given the right time and situation, but the ones I'd personally be most excited about that are played on an annual basis would have to be Kapalua, Pebble Beach, Spyglass, Riviera, Sawgrass, Augusta, Harbour Town, Quail Hollow, Muirfield Village, and Castle Pines. There's only a few on the schedule I'd really have very little interest in playing.

My one and only letter to Golf World was published around the Casey Martin kerfuffle. I called every one of the courses on the rotation that year posing as a would be guest or visitor and making sure it was Ok if I walked. I don't have the exact figures anymore, but more than half didn't allow walking.. So my answer would be less than half.

Cog Hill G&CC
Royal Liverpool Golf Club
Castle Pines GC
Medinah Country Club

more than I originally thought...I would to play these at least once..one time might be enough at some of them...

I haven't played the following:

Kapalua
Riveria!
M Village
H. Town
TPC Sawgrass
AGNC
Bay Hill
Colonial
Medinah
Castle Pines
199 played, only Augusta National left to play!

I concur with almost all of your choices.  What I find interesting is the lack of Tournament Player's Courses.  Sawgrass is the exception to the rule.
