New Jersey National

I played NJN a couple of months ago and after playing the course I was wondering how you would label the course.  Is it a parkland style, part links, woodland?  What do others think?

I'd say hilly woodland.

No links.

What a great golf course!
But then again, I started working as design associate for Roy Case, the architect of NJN, towards the end of its construction.   ;D
p.s.  Hilly woodland works for me.

More parksland style.

Although when you have such a unique hole like the uphill par-4 17th -- one of the best under 400-yard holes in public golf in Jersey IMHO.

One other thing -- the greens at NJ National can also get quite slippery when they are dry. In the original opening of the course -- people routinely putted off the 2nd green and the 9th, to name just two examples.

The biggest issue is the massive proliferation of housing that has simply engulfed the course. I can remember teeing off on #10 and the grass on the far left was wispy and quite a sight to behold. Today -- it's simply one house stacked up against the next.
