PV or Local muni

As a Newbie, I need some help. Is posting in the discussion group more like Pine Valley, where ANY mis-hit shot leaves you thinking "what was I thinking trying that shot?" or...Playing at the local muni on Saturday morning where getting the needle all the way around from your buddies is standard?

Scott - great question.

I think a lot of people WANT it to be like Pine Valley, and a lot of times it is... but a lot of the time's it's also the local muni.

So call it something in between - what's a fun lesser-known Philadelphia club, with a great course where you want to be up to your best, but where the members still give each other a lot of crap, with no airs or pretense?

That's what this forum would be most like.

Thanks for the reply Tom,
Is it safe to say most posters are in cold weather states, and this is their round of golf?

Scott - there's a lot of that also.  This is a golf substitute for those poor souls (as type as I turn up the air conditioner.)

Scott, There is a wide wake running off the GCA member's boat...a great place to check out some of the members locale is http://www.frappr.com/golfclubatlas...As another "Newbie" I look to post only when know that I can hit the fairway...Many of the established posters prefer to swing hard and see how they can bounce their postings off the trees. ;)

Many of the established posters swing hard to bounce their posts off the trees? What's that supposed to mean?

I've been here just about from the beginning, I don't post very much and when I do I try to keep it to a single sentence. I try to tip-toe right down the middle of the fairway on here because the last thing I want to do is say something aggressive or challenging to someone that might piss them off.

Maybe I'm on the timid side on here and maybe not. It's hard to say.

But even if I am I think this site is best when it's like a full-blown bar-room brawl in Dodge City on a Saturday night!

Bastard!  ;)

How long can we mention 'Texas' as a way to bring you down to the same level of our Winter doldrums?

Andy - well, a way out of depression is to focus on the good things one has.  So I may go overboard about weather for awhile.

 TEPaul,

It sounds like you are a "penal" rather than a "strategic" poster.

The great thing about this site is when you stumble onto a post insulting you on a thread you hadn't even visited before.  It's fair to say I like my posts to be fun as I really can't afford any more penalties.  I've been told I'm on my last ball so to say..

(PS Why yes, I've been a diehard TX fan for exactly 3 days now)

TEPaul...I have enjoyed reading a number of your "tip-toe down the middle" posts over the year or so that I have been checking in on this fun and thought provoking discussion group...But I feel that I must now truely belong, for inspiring a reply that has some spit and vinegar.

btw...I agree that the discussion is most interesting when it's a spirited battle

Andy - what's very interesting is the equality in quantities of increase in Texas fans with decrease in USC fans.  That bandwagon is one powerful vehicle.
