Thought I would introduce myself as a new member to this board.

I found your site a few years ago and would visit it occasionally.  I was really impressed by the courses that were analyzed in the courses by country section.  About 6 months ago I noticed the discussion group and loved everything about it.  The honest opinions, frank discussions and most of all learning about different golf courses that otherwise I would probably have never known much about.

I'm 23 and have been golfing for about 11 years.  Having been lucky enough to have played my high school golf in Westchester County, NY gave me opportunity to play some of the most well known courses in the country, as well as some of the great hidden gems.  Some of my favorites are Fenway, Metropolis, Sunningdale, Bedford Golf & Tennis, Quaker Hill, Mt Kisco, Waccabuc, you get the point.   This really sparked my interest in golf course architecture.  I recently discovered that I just played my 110th different golf course.  Probably a tiny amount compared to many of the members of this board, but not bad considering I spent 4 years of college in Niagara Falls, NY.  In July I will be taking a golf trip to Scotland.  We are hitting all the classic seaside links, Dornoch, Prestwick, Western Gailes, Machrihanish, Troon, Old Course, Cruden Bay, North Berwick, Brora, Shishkine, Castle Course, Kingsbarns and a couple others.

While my career is in Finance for a fortune 50 company and isn't in the golf industry, golf will always be my passion.

The check out boy at Wal-Mart this morning had on a "I Heart Golf" hat.  I asked him if he was Mimram and he said... "No, I feel fine."

Kav--Sometimes the things you say just make me laugh...Are you sure Mike isn't to new to handle jokes like that though? He may not yet understand your humor.

Instead of creating a new thread, since there's been plenty around here lately, I'll piggy back off yours.

I'm a recent new member to the board myself.  I've been lurking on this site since 2002, when I took up the game of golf.  This site and board have brought me a wealth of knowledge that is invaluable.  Interestingly enough, I found a draft email written in 2005 to ask Ran to join the site.  For whatever reason, I didn't send it.  Finally a couple months ago, I got my act together and decided to actually send the email.

I lived on a pitch and putt (Delhi Par 3 in Cincinnati) all my childhood, yet didn't take up the game until I was 21 after a non-golf related trip to Kiawah Island.  After driving by Cougar Point and Turtle Point all week and visiting the Ocean Course's clubhouse and seeing the Ryder Cup memorabilia, I decided I had to give it a try.  After my round at Cougar Point, I was hooked.  I currently play to a 18, but I'm trying to improve that to a 12 by the end of the year.  Putting and blow up holes are my downfall... that is to say, I'm dangerous in a scramble :)

I love everything about the game... the architecture, the equipment, the history... everything.  I'm a Web Developer/Analyst at work and for charity.  I help maintain the site for the Ohio Valley Golf Association, an official Club w/o Real Estate out of Cincinnati that is a weekend golf league that raises money for various charities.  My favorite course I've played so far is World Woods Pine Barrens.  I've been able to attend tournaments such as the 2005 Amateur Publinks (the one Michelle Wie qualified for), the last 4 Memorial Tournaments, and the 2005 Solheim Cup at Crooked Stick.

I look forward to contributing to those courses that I'm knowledgeable about (mostly in Ohio/Kentucky/Indiana) and learning about other courses around the U.S. and the world.
