Tommy, Tommy, Tommy...be careful with the "like owning art" metaphor. Some like playing Doak, but some like playing Fazio. And some, dare I say it, even like playing Robinson. ;)

All I'm saying is that Jubilee #15 stretches the concept of penal architecture to places I don't think it should be allowed to go (and still be commended as such). If that hole wasn't in St. Andrews, would it get a free pass and even a pat on the back, I wonder?

Cheers,
Darren

Many thanks to all who replied.  I thought you might be interested in seeing what we decided on for the best 9 in Fife.  As Darren Kilfara so aptly stated, this list could easily have included the best 18 in St. Andrews and the best in the rest of Fife but space was prohibitive.  Posting this is almost against my better judgmement as almost all the courses are in NE Fife not to mention a wee bit controversial.  Nevertheless, here they are in no particular order.

17th at the Old
5th at Crail (Balcomie)
13th at Elie
14th at the Old
7th at Crail (Craighead)
17th at the Devlin   (if you haven't played it, you will. A wonderful golf hole)
10th at the New
15th at Kingsbarns (a great one shotter with a diabolical back right pin placement)
15th at Jubilee (with apologies, it truly is a love or hate hole)

I suppose it would be too much to ask for your oppinion on Haggis for our next newsletter?

Happy Holidays everyone.

Archies,
If you think the 15th is that bad, then you should come out here to California where I can really show you a thing or two. The stuff is so bad, there are times I don't think it should even be called Golf.

Rich, I have that scorecard still on my other computer at home. when I replied to this and as I write this now, I'm at my parents house.

Also, I have a scroecard from Pitreavie frm when I visted there. I just don't have it on me! :)

Darren, Of all people! I thought the Art-anthology would work for you!

I love the 10th at Crail. Crail has great par 3's in general and this is the best. It belongs in a best 10 in the world club not just Fife.

The fifteenth at Jubilee is a relatively easy four par without the mounding at greenside.  It's my opinion that unlike most risk reward par 4 holes, this one's risk comes at approach.  In my mind, any golf hole that makes you think, is a good (and sometimes great) golf hole.

My last thought on this matter is my favourite golf hole is any one that I'm on at the moment.
