I'm not saying it should get a bump into any Top 100 list but with all the press and the tournament, I would be surprised if it does not show up on someone's list next year.

As for the USGA, perhaps it would be appropriate for a Women's Open ...

Lake Merced's address is 2300 Junipero Serra Blvd, Daly City, CA-so it's clearly the #1 course in Daly City (and, due to clubhouse renovation and an out of control Board of Directors and Club Manager, probably the most expensive private club in the area right now :o)
