Golfclubatlas golf shirts
« on: August 29, 2005, 07:06:33 PM »
Hi everyone -

I was recently inspired by a series of emails from one of the site's more thoughtful posters to offer golfclubatlas.com golf shirts.

The deal would be as follows:

The shirts will cost $40 each. Of that, approximately half will be donated to Ran, to support the operation of this site (the only reason I say approximately is to cover myself in case any of our overseas posters participate - rest assured, if you're domestic, Ran's getting at least $20 from your purchase).

Send me an IM through the site (upper right hand corner, if you're a newbie, or just click on my name and scroll down a little) indicating your desire to purchase a shirt. I will send you the address to send the check to, or give you a phone number if you wish to put it on a credit card (you can also add an additional amount you wish to donate to Ran, if desired - in the past, people have expressed the interest to donate if a credit card option were available - now you have no excuse).  The quality of the shirts will be very high, something of the level of the shirts I did for the New Mexico outing a couple years ago, with an embellishment on the left chest of a golfer and www.golfclubatlas.com on the sleeve. Hopefully some recipients of said shirt will chime in and confirm the quality of the shirt.

The sizing of the shirts is pretty standard. I'm an average size guy - 5'9", about 190 - I wear a medium if I want a tight, close fit, a large if I'm looking for a little more room. These shirts do tend to run a little big.

Here's a little kicker: If you want something custom on the left chest, I will do a one color logo just for you, for an additional $10 per shirt, all donated to Ran. Maybe your Saturday morning foursome has a goofy name, maybe you're building the next Sand Hills, or maybe you are looking to get something for your company. Whatever the reason, I'll throw something together that you will get to approve & embellish your shirt with it instead of the standard golfer image.

I will try to post the image that will be on the left chest tomorrow - for some reason, my FTP site is denying me access right now.

One last thing:

If you are a Canadian whom I have tried to send items to in the past and failed, after the post office sent me back the items, you are ineligible for purchase. You will be receiving your shirt free, and I will be donating the full amount to Ran. :) I will figure out a way to get a shirt to you somehow.

I hope everyone takes the in the spirit intended. It's a chance for me to give a little back to someone who has added immeasurably to my enjoyment of life. If you do feel the need to be paranoid and rip me for this effort, please do it on the private side of the site, not the public.

I hope many order and we can send the founders and benefactors of our largesse a nice big check.

 :)

Great! :o 8)

Does it come in any color you want, as long as it's green? ;) ;D

Hopefully, it won't be "over-watered green". ;D

George,

Any chance of seeing the product?  If you can take a picture I will post it for you.

Light interest so far, I was hoping to raise a little more....

Anyway, here is a link to the shirt that I was planning on using:

https://www.broderbros.com/cgi-bin/broderliv/inx_productPage.htm?sr=13Z0029

It's a great shirt (I have 2 myself, used them for a close friend's bachelor party golf outing), though the photo isn't:

These are the colors available - please choose a couple, in case your size and color is not currently in stock:

white, sunburst, blue wave, real red, midnight, black

Sizes are M-2XL.

If you don't like that shirt, peruse the Broder Bros site, look under sport shirts, and I'll let you know how much a different item would be. They also carry Nike Golf, Perry Ellis, Outer Banks, and some others.

George, sounds good.  What's the logo going to look like? Not the GCA logo, the golfer on the front logo.

Just saw this - I can attest that the shirts George got us for the NM gig are quite high quality and very cool.  ESP going on here - I just wore mine to work on Monday...

They are also great conversation starters.  When wearing the shirt playing golf, the usual reaction is "what the hell is that geeky web site?"

Here is the image I was intending to put on the left chest:

That's Luke Donald, in case you were wondering....

James -

I'm not aware of an official Carthage logo as of right now, but if someone wants to do one, I'll print it.

Tom Huckaby says, "I just wore mine to work on Monday..."

Sounds like work at Yahoo! might be a bit more relaxed than at Clorox!  Just guessing!

But do they monitor your online stuff including GCA?  :-X :P

They must because his posts per day are way down ... either that or he has real work to do ...

I'm not aware of any active monitoring of internet activity... of course the employer always CAN, so one ought to be on guard.  Of course I always am.   :)

As for dress, it's a bit more relaxed here at Yahoo - jeans are standard - but Clorox had casual dress as well.  I believe I got the most out of my triple-digits in golf shirts I own during my 13 years there.

And yes, GCA does need a logo.

ps - my posts are seemingly down because of two factors:  50% I am actually working harder and 50% there hasn't been much worth discussing lately (see, I've never been to Merion and really don't care much about it).

Was that a hint dropped in hopes of remedying the omission?

Thanks for the support, everyone. Orders are picking up. I knew once Huck started posting on the thread it would at least be guaranteed to stay on the first page.... :)

As for the image, I'd be happy to put something else on, if someone wants to design something. I'll try to modify Mike Nuzzo's Carthage logo to get it down to one color and see how it looks. Also, I'll have to contact Ran to see if it's okay to print Carthage shirts.

Mr Huckaby Sir.

Remember the "First Tee"?

Golf is a sport for kids.

Maybe you could get a chapter set up at your beloved Santa Theresa.

Joe:

My even more beloved Rancho Del Pueblo just received designation (and funding) as a First Tee location.  I actually did have a tiny bit to do with it, putting a bug in the manager's ear way back.

Check out "My Home Course" on this site.

Santa Teresa wouldn't be a good location for it - they do have a par three course, but it's dwarfed by the big course and the place is always way way way too crowded.  I trust the management there to do anything philanthropic like I trust the Dodgers to win the next 16 games in a row, also.  I am a Dodger fan.

It's pretty cool we got the First Tee at RDP.

Anything else?

 ;)

ps - what I meant by my comment is that MY LIFE is dominated by kid's sports - because I am constantly coaching and/or chauffering my own kids.  You will find no bigger supporter of kids' sports than me.  It just leaves damn little time for me to play golf!

How about a semi-circle of "FAST AND FIRM" with say a flag stick in the middle on the left side of the shirt.  Could you tell me how much more Nike would cost as I've not had much luck with Izod shirts holding up. Thanks
