Hamburger Germany

Anyone played hamburger German?  It is #20 on the world wide Next Fifty list.  Can't find any details on it?

Sandy soil, rolling terrain, nestled in the Bel Air of Hamburg.

The best the country has to offer...thus far.

Didn't know it was a Colt production the first time I played it with a good buddy of mine.

Was part of the Shell's Wonderful World of Golf tour, and I saw a tape of an early 60's match.  The bunkers have been cleaned up, some filled in...but all-in-all it doesn't look like much has changed...though they could and are thinning out trees.

If you're going there...be sure to head over the border and play De Pan in The Netherlands.  I like that course even more.

It is a lovely setting for golf and a very good course.  Feels like an English heathland course, although there are more trees and only a bit of heather.

I remember us chatting about this course at Painswick.  Would you have given it a 6 or 7 in The CG?

Frankfurter looks to be good too but not quite at Hamburger's level.

Paul:  It would be a 6 or a 7 depending on my mood that day, and of course what I shot from the back tees.  

I'd probably have given it a 7 because it's in Germany and it would be worth more than a 100-mile drive there, especially on the Autobahn.  Heck, it's probably worth driving to from anywhere east of Hamburg.
